Upland

Welcome to the Upland

Upland turns the world into a virtual game where you own the world you build! Here, your in-game assets have real-world value thanks to the digital economy built on the EOS blockchain. By playing Upland, you're taking part in the thrilling new frontier of blockchain gaming. In Upland, you don't just play for fun, you play to earn!

The Upland metaverse is focused on three aspects, playing a game and having fun, earning real money for the time invested on the game, connecting with other players, Uplanders, and expanding your social world.

Play

The game aspect of Upland is very similar to that of Monopoly. Your Block Explorer - name given to your in-game avatar, will constantly wander the Upland metaverse, searching for unique and interesting properties to acquire. Your block explorer's path is both random and automatic, as the direction it travels cannot be directly controlled. But you can exercise influence on its direction by spending “Sends”.

You can manually send your block explorer to a minted property by using "Sends." Every Uplander automatically gets 3 sends which recharge every 24 hours. Players can hold up to a max of 11 sends. It's also possible to farm additional sends by clicking on the paper airplane icons that spawn across the map. Note that your block explorer must be in range in order to pick up sends, so you may have to spend a "send" to get in range first.

As you wander throughout the city you selected to start, you will find all sorts of properties for sale. Those green ones are available for purchase and blue ones already have an owner, which takes us to the second pillar of Upland.

Earn

Earning in Upland is facilitated by the NFT-to-USD program, courtesy of their partners at Tilia Pay. This program enables players to list any property directly for US Dollars, meaning when another player purchases your property you'll have US Dollars deposited into your account instead of UPX. While NFT-to-USD only currently supports property sales, it will be expanding to support all types of NFTs in the Upland metaverse.

While that seems interesting, it’s important to first understand how to acquire a property on the game in order to have the possibility to earn.

Buying

When your Block Explorer finds a property that interests you, feel free to click on it and learn more about its characteristics.

If you feel like purchasing the property a simple confirmation will be displayed and after that you will be the proud owner of your land.

Note that some properties fall under the Fair Start Act (FSA), those properties are only allowed to be purchased by new players and have a much lower value.

This is a mechanic created in order to keep the game fair to both new and seasoned players.

Properties on Upland are part of Collections and one of the fundamental reasons for collecting properties in Upland is to complete unique and interesting property collections. Completing collections allows you to collect that collection as an achievement, earns you a one-time UPX bonus (dependent on rarity), and boosts your property earnings while the properties are in that collection.

Marketplace

In order to access Upland’s Marketplace you will need to become a Uplander, that is, you will need to have at least 10,000 UPX in total property value, plus UPX, plus visitor earnings.

Getting access to the Marketplace is the final step to truly access the entire Upland metaverse.

Connect

Upland community is dedicated, growing constantly, and is a perfect place for beginners to find their footing and succeed in the game. The most proficient traders in Upland are active members of the Discord community, so don't miss out on the chance to learn from them!

The game also has an Event Hub on its website, that acts as the center for all activities in the Upland metaverse. Players can also access the Events Hub by clicking on the Calendar Icon in the main HUD. Staying up to date with the Events Hub is the best way to get all the latest news, announcements, and in-game updates.

All content on this page is based on and/or taken from the game's original documentation/whitepaper. Play Portal shares Blockchain games so its readers can get knowledge about the top games available on the market.

Getting Started

Starting your journey on Upland is quite easy! Head to their website and click on the “Enter Upland” button

That will take you to the web version of the game (you can also play with an Android or iOS app) and ask you to create an account or login.

After creating your account you will be asked to confirm your email address and done!

The game will run a quick tutorial, be sure to pay attention to it, it’s good stuff. After that you will be able to pick your initial city.

Don’t worry, you will be able to travel to other cities later if you wish to!
