Ember Sword
A World Wonders and Lands
The world of Ember Sword promises to deliver an exciting and constantly new experience for its players, every time they login.
In a world divided into 4 opposing nations, each with its own characteristics, strong and weak points, players need to pick one to call home and venture into three types of territories: Outlaw, Wilderness, and Kingship.
Kingship territories are safe, at least where PvP is concerned. In Kingship lands, players will be able to focus on PvE and resource collection, at least most of the resources. There the lives and quests of several NPCs will happen, and the power of Web 3 gaming will be clear since the community will own 160.000 plots of land, changing the face of towns and cities, as it would be in the real world.
As your life of adventures continues, you will head to the Wilderness to find not-so-common resources, stronger and stranger monsters, NPCs, and maybe players from opposing nations, having your first taste of PvP. On the Wilderness there are also Open-World Bosses and being the first to slay them will reward you with rare goodies.
Then, there are the Outlaw territories. These are the most dangerous spots a player can go, found on the edge between Nations, far from the reach of Kings, anyone here is a threat and PvP is at full scale. Here the rarest resources hide, as the most powerful monsters, but there’s also a chance of controlling Outlaw camps, and being rewarded for your control in the region. Just don’t think it will be easy.
Freedom for your Characters
According to Ember Sword website, there will be no Classes on the game, meaning you could change between weapons and play styles on the go. There will be types of weapons, melee, ranged, and energy.
It’s not clear at this point what energy will be like, but one can imagine it will be Ember Sword’s mage route. For melee, of course, one-handed swords, two-handed swords, maces, scythes, etc., and for ranged there are bows, crossbows, maybe one-shot type fire weapons. Regardless of the type of weapon, as you use more and more of it, characters will improve on that skill and unlock new moves to use.
That takes us to skill types, currently, Ember Sword has 16 skills that are planned to be added to the game, but more skills are likely to come as the development progresses: Mining, Lumberjacking, Fishing, Skinning, Harvesting, Smelting, Tanning, Weaving, Woodworking, Armor smithing, Weapon smithing, Jewelry smithing, Cooking, Melee, Ranged, and Energy.
If each skill will really impact gameplay and allow players to create their own experience is yet to be seen, but the amount of usually “secondary/production skills” is really promising.
Ember, Lands, and Collectibles
Ember is the ERC-20 token used in the game to acquire land, optional subscription services - like extra bank slots, unique collectible monthly, and other non-gameplay-impacting convenience features - certain consumables, and collectibles, that will be primarily bought from other players, since Ember Sword does not have lootbox systems.
Lands are NFTs that players can purchase in order to build, develop, and, maybe, trade. There are 4 types of land plots, which are Regular, Settlement, Town, and City plots.
A Regular plot is 1x1 and that is, roughly, the size of “one screen”. They are base plots of land and can have traits that are revealed as the game progresses, such as campsites, NPC houses, resource deposits, monster spawns, etc. Settlements are also 1x1, but in these players can place small-sized buildings, such as resupply stations, guild outposts, small player housings, stores, etc. Towns are larger settlements, with more to offer to adventurers, such as buildings that permit crafting, resource refinement, etc. Cities are the biggest and most expensive type of plot that players can own, it allows players to build all sorts of buildings that were possible on the other plots, plus large houses, stores, portals, caravan trading posts, etc.
The important thing to notice here is that land owners don’t have exclusive access to resources that configure as pay-to-win, according to the developers. Any and all land is accessible by all players. The idea behind the land-owning concept is that the game continues to change organically, as players decide to sell parts of their lands, build different things, and really act as Sires, Ladys, Baron, Baronesses, Earls, Countesses, Dukes, and Duchesses, titles that come with landing owning.
Collectibles are all skins, avatars, emotes, pets, mounts, and everything cosmetic and/or accessory that does not have any impact on gameplay, because they do not make you stronger. Collectibles exists in finite quantities, they will be introduced monthly in PvP and PvE activities and after their month has passed, they will not be introduced again. That makes all collectibles really scarce and unique, each of them having an item history, detailing who has owned them, how it was forged, etc.
