DeFi Kingdoms

DeFi Kingdoms is a beautifully crafted pixel art medieval world that also works as a DEX (Decentralized Exchange), allowing players to not only hold monetary value on their tokens but also make those tokens usable, valuable, working in ways that give back to the community the time and money they invest.

How does the World of Gaia works?

There are some key elements that compose the ecosystem of DeFi Kingdoms, these are the JEWEL token, the DEX, the Gardens, the Collectibles aspect (Heroes, Equipments, and Kingdoms), and the activities that one can enjoy by using those Collectibles.

JEWEL Token

The JEWEL is the token of value in DeFi. Not only is the currency used to purchase Kingdoms, summon Heroes, and more, but it is also used in liquidity mining, meaning you can earn more of it through staking it, and it is also a governance token, allowing holders to have a say on the development of the project. 

The token has a hard cap of 500,000,000 tokens and their distribution can be found easily on their documentation, link below. But know that, the team behind the project, also released the addresses for their funds, as well as the addresses for the founding members that are the only ones that can allow transactions to happen using these funds, needing 3 out of 4 signatures to execute.

The game was audited and one can check the results on their website. Last but not least, at the time of this writing, the JEWEL token was by far the most valuable in total transactions and balance value on the Harmony chain, with well over $1.40B in assets.

DEX

The decentralized aspect is another important factor here. Using the tried and true UniswapV2 Protocol, which allows for fast, efficient trade, DeFi team wants to use the investment aspect of the blockchain technology in a way that is fun and enjoyable.

From the Kingdom’s Market one can swap tokens at the currency exchange rate, one can also become a Liquidity Provider by adding liquidity to any token pools you want. One can also deposit JEWELs on the Jeweler, getting in exchange xJEWEL shares, which will always work at a rate that guarantees your shares will be worth more JEWELs than what you deposit at first. The Jeweler also receives a small percentage of all in-game JEWEL transactions, so that it can reward xJEWEL holders.

The Gardens

Another way to invest is to head for the Gardens. There you will be able to stake liquidity provider tokens to receive JEWELs. With each garden, which is an LP pairing, you will be able to see your portion of the total share represented by the plants you own. The gardener will take care of your plants until they grow, a simple visual representation of the blocks being mined, and then will deposit your yield in the storehouse, showing the number of JEWEL tokens mined. If you have a gardener Hero, you can win JEWEL rewards based on your stakes and mining Heroes unlock rewards faster!

And what are these Heroes?

Heroes are the sword and sorcery element that you probably thought was missing until this point. The Heroes are unique pixel art characters that are also NFTs. But unlike other NFTs out there, their function is not only to look pretty, they are really fundamental in the game. They can do quests, fight in PVP battles, equip gear, level up, and earn you JEWELs. 

At the moment of this writing you can get your heroes in two ways: purchasing one on the Tavern Marketplace or going to the Portal and Summoning one. When you’re Summoning there are RNG factors going along with the genes of the two heroes you are using to summon a new one, which means you can end up with a super rare new Hero, with unique abilities and classes. It’s amazing and fun to get your heroes, be it by selecting the exact one you wish to purchase or by throwing the dice on the Summon.

Parts of the Kingdom

This here is a chance to own a plot of land on the World of Gaia - a Kingdom, land that will provide you with resources. Not all plots of land are the same, some are closer to the capital and require less stamina to travel to, have more of one or another resource, they can be closer to dungeons, making each land unique.

Lands can be upgraded with buildings, that will allow you to improve and accumulate the resources you need or even provide bonus status to your heroes. If you have land you can of course also forage it every day and if you’re lucky enough, find rare and valuable materials or even equipment for your heroes!

Don’t forget that your Kingdoms can always be sold, and negotiated as real estate property, as they are all NFTs and the amount of investment you put into them will surely pay off later.

A Game For The Long Run

The developers of DeFi Kingdoms claim to be aiming for a game that will last for a long time and it does seem that way. With a progressive roadmap that is going steadily forward, with exciting news to arrive in 2022, and mechanics that favor the gaming aspect but do not forget the investment in the chain technology, DeFi seems to be a good play to earn to keep an eye on.
